MI(N)Tmachwelt 2025 in Kaiserslautern - Wipotec right in the middle of things

The Wipotec Stiftung aims to spark an early interest in MINT subjects among children and young people and to specifically encourage their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. This year's MI(N)Tmachwelt event at the Gartenschau grounds provided an impressive example of how this goal can be put into practice.

Schools attended workshops

On Thursday and Friday, schoolchildren came together with their teachers and immersed themselves in the world of science and technology. At the RPTU, for example, they used chromatography to find out which colours are hidden in a green leaf. Speakers from the Leibniz Institute in Kaiserslautern demonstrated how composite materials can be used to create lightweight yet stable structures. As part of the Ada Lovelace Project, students from the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern conducted water analyses with the young people in a mobile mini-laboratory – to name just a few examples.

For the first time, Wipotec was also represented with its own workshop. Tobias Stellwagen, developer of innovative weighing technology at Wipotec, took the participants on a journey through the history of weighing. Afterwards, the young people were able to get involved in several experiments and gain their own weighing experience.

“We are delighted by the huge interest in MI(N)Tmachwelt. The workshops for schoolchildren and the colourful family day on Saturday were particular highlights”

— Margret Wesely, Project Manager MINT

Family Day on Saturday

Saturday was traditionally dedicated to families. Children were able to experiment with great joy together with their parents. At the Wipotec stand, they enthusiastically soldered – with the support of our trainees – or had their faces painted creatively, which was very popular as it is every year. The stage show by the Experinauten in the theatre hall provided special entertainment, thrilling the audience with lots of action and humour.

Another highlight was the large wall mosaic by Lauter Steine e.V., in which young and old alike could participate. Over the course of the day, numerous small Lego squares were used to create an impressive image featuring the MI(N)Tmachwelt logo—a creative challenge that everyone enjoyed.

Numerous other experiments were presented by dedicated employees of the RPTU, the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern, the BBS, and many other partners. Lebenshilfe Westpfalz e.V. once again proved to be an excellent host at the Gartenschau grounds and contributed significantly to the success of the event.

We are already looking forward to the next MI(N)Tmachwelt – from August 20 to 22, 2026, at the Gartenschau in Kaiserslautern!
