Quality Assurance at BASF
Application Report
Find out how BASF uses state-of-the-art technologies to ensure that all products meet the high quality requirements. Eric Fritsche, Process Manager at BASF Agricultural Solutions, gives insights into the optimization of filling and packaging processes:
- Seamlessly integrated optical quality control
- 360° inspection to ensure flawless closures
- Increased efficiency through fully automated systems
Thanks to Wipotec technology, BASF has been able to achieve more precise inspection and faster changeover times.
Quality Assurance for Paint and other Buckets
Smart Vision Inspection
The system first checks whether the lid is present and correct. The turntable then rotates each bucket for a complete 360° inspection. Advanced machine learning algorithms intelligently detect issues such as spills, smudges, or paint splashes, ensuring that no soiled bucket leaves the production line.
Batch or product data are printed inline on the bottom or lid and immediately verified by the camera. The integrated checkweigher then ensures that each container meets the specified weight. Finally, defective units are ejected – fully automatically and with smooth integration into existing production processes.
Intelligent Vision Inspection for Maximum Quality

End-of-line quality control
TQS ensures reliable quality in the filling and packaging of paints using AI-powered image processing and self-learning inspection systems. Fully integrated cameras check the packaging based on defined quality criteria and detect deviations such as spills, smudges, or stains. Lids, buckets, and labels are automatically checked – for consistent quality, less waste, and maximum process stability.
Quality Assurance in the Chemical Industry
Automation in quality control
The use of modern technologies is driving greater automation in quality control and increasing overall product safety. At the same time, manufacturers must comply with numerous labeling and quality assurance regulations — both a challenge and an opportunity. Modern quality assurance requires seamless documentation, validation and audit trails. Digitalization requires end-to-end data exchange throughout the entire production and supply chain. Many production lines therefore rely on smart solutions that meet all equirements effectively. From precise checkweighing and effcient marking and labeling to optical inspection with fully integrated vision systems: quality, safety, and compliance can be guaranteed in a future-proof way.
How to ensure 100 % quality in production
Automatic Optical Quality Control
Achieving consistently high quality in the filling- and packaging line demands innovative solutions that integrate seamlessly into existing workflows. Ensuring that every single product meets strict quality standards is challenging. Traditional approaches involve piecing together components from multiple providers – leading to interface challenges, inefficiencies, and frustrating integration issues: limited space, time-consuming product changeovers, and the complexity of diverse production parameters. There is way more to consider than just mounting a camera.
Optical Inspection – The Game
Challenge our automatic system
Manufacturers often invest significant manual effort at the end of the line to ensure product quality. The product's perfect labeling, correct positioning of labels, and proper cap closure are all inspected – relying on the human eye. This game challenges you to eject all faulty products and compare your results with our fully automatic TQS solution.
